The Digital Map software application is an extension of the present GIS system at the HCSO. Digital Map helps to analyse, display and publish data of agricultural statistical subjects, furthermore it supports the regional level examination of results of the agricultural census concerning survey on vineyard and fruit trees providing geographical information.

The geographical database of the Digital Map application is built upon the database (DB) of administrative boundaries Hungary (MKH-10) that is a structured digital DB on settlement level. The Digital Map provides statistical information selected by standard administrative units (settlement, county, statistical region, country) or by user created units based on settlements (small region, vineyard county, vineyard production county etc.).

The software application is linked with the existing IT system of HCSO in order to ensure that geographically selected statistical data processed by the IT system and received from the 2001 survey can be presented in map. The user interface of Digital Map is created in Hungarian language. The thematic map output (background information, legend etc.) of the Digital Map is presented in Hungarian or English language providing switching between languages.

The Digital Map provides thematic mapping functions of standard GIS. Digital Map is installed at five workstations of HCSO.
