Latvia, 1999-2000 - Market Information System - Export Promotion

The project provides technical assistance to the set-up and implementation of an Export Promotion Unit with the Agricultural Market Promotion Center. The main tasks for the Export Promotion Center will be to provide export market information and advise on export planning and promotion for Latvian Companies in the agricultural sector. The project will support the development of export promotion skills, institutional strengthening and development of an export market information system within with the Agricultural Market Promotion Centre. Latvia , 1998. "Strengthening of Latvia's Agriculture Market and Price Information System"

The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity and capability of the Agriculture Market Promotion Centre (AMPC) in collecting, processing, analysing and disseminating market and price information. The first component of the project comprised a survey on AMPC's targets groups opinion on AMPC's services in order to outline and implement activities that will improve AMPC's services including recommendation on collection, processing and dissemination of information.

The second component in the project comprised the development and design of a database for compiling and processing of the data collected by AMPC. The third component comprised the set-up of an export market unit within the AMPC. The project supported the set-up through training of staff in conducting export market surveys, establishing of national and international network for information and the elaboration of a work plan for 1999.
